CONGRESSMAN RO KHANNA ENDORSES KATIE PORTER FOR CONGRESS

Irvine -- Leading congressional candidate Katie Porter today announced the endorsement of Congressman Ro Khanna (CA-17). In endorsing Katie, Congressman Khanna made the following statement:

"I am proud to join Senators Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren in endorsing Katie Porter for Congress. Katie is a UC Irvine law professor, middle-class mother of three, and consumer advocate who has spent decades taking on the big banks that hurt middle-class families – and winning.

"I was moved by Katie's bravery in telling her personal story of domestic abuse. We are seeing women across the country step up to run and win, bringing important issues that are far too common, but not often talked about to the forefront.  I know that Katie's background and track record of delivering for California families will make her a great member of Congress.

"Katie Porter is by far the best candidate to flip this critical seat in November.  Democrats in this district don't have to sacrifice progressive values to win this district - and Katie will fight for a Medicare-for-all system, a woman's right to choose, and stand up to the NRA for common sense gun reform. We need leaders like Katie in Congress to stand up to Trump and to fight for our shared values."

Katie has built a strong campaign earning early endorsements from Senators Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren and was the first House challenger to receive the endorsement from EMILY’s List and PCCC.

A new poll of likely voters commissioned by End Citizens United (ECU) and conducted by PPP shows Katie Porter leading incumbent Congresswoman Mimi Walters by three points, 46 to 43 percent.

Congressman Ro Khanna, 41, is a Representative of California’s 17th District in Congress’ 115th session. In the 2016 general election, he was elected to Congress. He is one of only six members of Congress who does not accept PAC contributions, continuing his efforts to keep politics and special interest money separate. He serves as a member of the Committee on the Budget and the Committee on Armed Services in Congress. In Congress, Ro serves as a strong voice for a progressive vision that promotes good jobs and wages for the 17th district and the United States of America.
