KATIE PORTER RAISES OVER $1 MILLION IN HER FIRST QUARTER OF THE GENERAL ELECTION

IRVINE - CA-45 Democratic Nominee Katie Porter announced raising over $1,000,000 in the second quarter of 2018, bringing her total fundraising to over $2,000,000 with nearly $750,000 cash on hand.

Katie is running one of the most competitive races in the country and was named to the DCCC’s Red to Blue program in June.

A May poll of likely voters commissioned by End Citizens United (ECU) and conducted by PPP shows Katie Porter leading incumbent Congresswoman Mimi Walters by three points, 46 to 43 percent. CA-45 was upgraded to a “toss up” by Sabato’s Crystal Ball.

Katie earned early endorsements from Senators Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren and was the first House challenger to receive the endorsement from EMILY’s List.

As a consumer protection attorney, Katie Porter has spent decades taking on the big banks that hurt middle-class families -- and winning. In 2012, then–California Attorney General Kamala Harris appointed Katie to be California’s banking watchdog. The banks had promised to pay billions to homeowners they cheated, and Harris appointed Katie to make sure they followed through. Katie and her team held the banks’ feet to the fire, securing over $18 billion and helping tens of thousands of families in California move forward with their lives. Katie lives in Irvine with her three children, and is a tenured consumer law professor at University of California Irvine.
