THE BAY AREA REPORTER ENDORSES KATIE PORTER FOR CALIFORNIA GOVERNOR
America’s longest continuously-published and highest circulation LGBTQ newspaper endorses Katie
Porter’s Grassroots Coalition Continues to Grow and Will Propel Her to Victory
IRVINE—The Bay Area Reporter, the longest continuously published and highest circulation LGBTQ newspaper in the country, endorsed Katie Porter to be California’s next Governor, joining a long list of organizations that are backing Porter’s gubernatorial campaign.
“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of The Bay Area Reporter,” said Katie Porter. “The Trump administration has shown that it will stop at nothing to strip LGBTQ+ Americans of access to healthcare, marriage equality, and legal protection from discrimination. I will always stand up to protect LGBTQ+ Californians and their rights to be who they are, love who they love, and get the healthcare they need.”
Katie has a long record of supporting LGBTQ+ families. While serving in Congress, she cosponsored the Equality Act to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in employment, housing, education, public accommodations, and other areas. She was also a member of the Congressional LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus, where she worked closely as an ally on these issues.
