Another Poll Shows Katie Porter Is Clear Frontrunner in Race for CA Governor

It’s the third poll in a row to show Katie with a wide double digit lead over other Democrats, who remain stuck in single digits
IRVINE, CA—Just five months after joining the race for California Governor, Katie Porter has successfully consolidated support across the state, leading the Democratic field by double digits in every recent poll.
A new Politico poll released today found that Porter more than doubled the vote share of the next most competitive Democrat, matching other independent polling in recent months showing Porter with a commanding lead.
Another independent poll in August pegged Porter’s lead at 13 points, her support increasing by 50 percent since the organization’s previous poll—the only Democrat to significantly gain supporters, showing her affordability message is resonating with families across the state. An internal survey from March found Porter was leading even more among likely Democratic voters, earning 36 percent of the vote.
Despite entering the race halfway through the last fundraising period, Porter led the field in amount raised, raising over $3 million from grassroots donors. Porter also announced raising over a quarter of a million dollars in the 36 hours after Kamala Harris declined to enter the race.

Only three candidates have reached double digits in either of these two most recent polls — Katie Porter and two Republicans. Democrats can ensure they aren’t shut out of the general election by consolidating behind Katie.
