Katie Porter Breaks Out Her Whiteboard With A Message For Trump & Vision For California
Today, California governor candidate Katie Porter took the stage at the California Democratic Party State Convention, laying out her vision for California and slamming Donald Trump for his unhinged, extremist agenda and ruthless attacks on the American people.

Porter held nothing back in laying out the stakes of the 2026 elections, denouncing Trump for his willingness “to kill people in the streets, to rip health care away, and to ruthlessly attack our democracy” and vowing to fight back against him as governor, just as she did in Congress.
To thousands of voters demanding courageous leadership and real solutions that will improve their daily lives, Porter laid out her bold priorities as the next governor of California: single payer health care, less expensive housing, free child care for all, zero tuition for UCs and CSUs, and eliminating California’s income tax for people earning less than $100,000.

I’m Katie Porter. Some of you know me as the whiteboard lady who held CEOs and billionaires accountable in Congress.
So today, I wanna start with one simple, powerful message we all agree on.
Say it with me. Ready, 1 … 2 … 3…
Fuck Trump.
Yeah, that’s right, Fuck Trump. Together, we’re going to kick Trump’s ass in November and stop him in his tracks.
I’ll stand up to Trump and his cronies again and again, just as I did in Congress—with or without my whiteboard. But this election for Governor is about far more than defeating Trump.
We KNOW what Trump is willing to do and how far he’s willing to go – he’s willing to kill people in the streets, to rip health care away, to ruthlessly attack our democracy.
But this governor’s race asks US — what are WE willing to do? What is CALIFORNIA willing to do for our democracy?
Who we elect as our next Governor is the biggest, most powerful statement we can make in 2026 about who Democrats are, in California, and nationally. About what we stand for, and about what we will do.
Let’s elect a bold leader who WILL DO big things – the things we have long fought for. When I’m your governor, I will deliver:
- Single payer health care,
- Less expensive housing,
- Free child care for all,
- Zero tuition charges at our UCs and CSUs,
- And, thousands of dollars back in families pockets, by eliminating California income tax for those earning less than $100,000.
Those are real affordability solutions!
For decades, we have fought for these ideas. We’ve organized. We’ve voted. We’ve pushed this party to be better.
I am running for Governor because I am WILLING and READY to get those things done!
But you know who is standing in our way? Billionaires and huge corporations that have far too much power in our country—and too much influence in Sacramento. I’ll take them DOWN and LIFT UP the working people of this state.
Look I understand, there’s a lot that makes me unique in this race—and some of that scares people. I’m the single mom of three kids, I push a grocery cart, fill my minivan with gas, and pay the bills. I understand what it’s like to watch expenses like utilities and insurance go up and dollars not stretch far enough, because I’ve experienced that too.
We’ve never had a governor like that in California. Heck, we’ve never had a governor in heels! And I think it’s about damn time.
My differences will make me a better Governor, better able to address the challenges Californians face.
California Democrats, our country is counting on us to lead the way—to send a message about our democracy—by rejecting billionaires and corporate-backed candidates—and picking as governor, the ONLY candidate who has NEVER taken a dime of corporate PAC money.
In this election, there is a very real possibility that Republicans could sneak two candidates into the runoff. We CANNOT let that happen.
But let’s aim higher than stopping them. Let’s seize the opportunity to elect someone who is WILLING to get big things done and READY to live up to our progressive ideals.
My campaign IS our Democratic values, powered by small donations from 70,000 people just like you. And how you campaign is how you serve. I humbly ask for your support, not to be Governor “Of” California, but to Govern FOR ALL Californians.
Thank you.
