IUEC LOCAL 8 ENDORSES KATIE PORTER FOR CALIFORNIA GOVERNOR

Organized Labor Backs Katie Because They Know She’ll Fight For Working Families—Not Billionaires and Corporations

IRVINE—IUEC Local 8 endorsed Katie Porter to be California’s next Governor, building upon a long list of labor unions and workers that are backing Katie’s gubernatorial campaign.

“I am grateful to have earned the endorsement of IUEC Local 8,” said Katie Porter. “Workers deserve a partner in the Governor’s office—someone who will stand with them at the picket line, have their back at the negotiating table, and go to bat against powerful special interests in Sacramento. I have spent my career fighting for working families and delivering for the workers who are at the heart of California’s economy. As the only candidate refusing corporate money in this race, Californians know that I’ll do the same as Governor.”

IUEC Local 8, which represents over 1,300 elevator constructors in Northern California and Nevada, is the latest labor union to support Katie’s campaign for California Governor. Her grassroots coalition is anchored by organized labor, with support from UNAC/UHCP, Orange County Employees Association, IBEW Local 441, National Union of Healthcare Workers (NUHW), Teamsters California, United Auto Workers (UAW), Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), Sheet Metal, Air, Rail, and Transit Workers Union (SMART), and more.

Leading media outlets like the San Francisco Chronicle and the Sacramento Bee are backing Porter as well, calling her the “most impressive” candidate in the race.
