CALIFORNIA– Today, Gubernatorial candidate Katie Porter issued the following statement in response to former Vice President Kamala Harris’s decision not to enter the race for Governor of California. Porter reiterated her commitment to delivering real solutions that benefit all Californians and defending our state against the Trump Administration.
“Kamala Harris is a focused leader and I’m proud of the work we accomplished together on consumer protections during the housing crisis and grateful for her service to California and our country,” said Katie on Wednesday. “I look forward to seeing her next accomplishments and continuing our work together.”
“Our state faces serious challenges, and Californians know that everything from healthcare to housing is way too expensive,” Katie added. “Donald Trump is doing everything in his power to make things even harder. The momentum building behind our campaign shows voters want a Governor focused on solutions and who is willing to fight hard for our state, and that’s why I’m running for Governor.”
A March poll showed Katie with a 28-point lead, leading across audiences and party lines. The poll of Democrats and No Party Preference primary voters shows her winning a commanding 36 points, with all other announced or likely Democratic candidates polling in single digits.
