Katie Porter’s Senate Bid Endorsed by the Statewide Communications Workers of America (CWA) Union
CWA District 9 joins other unions, good government advocates, and progressive groups praising Porter’s run for the U.S. Senate
IRVINE – Congresswoman Katie Porter (CA-47), candidate for U.S. Senate in California, was endorsed today by the Communications Workers of America (CWA) District 9, which represents more than 60,000 workers across various industries in California and nearby states and territories. CWA District 9 joins a chorus of other unions, good government advocates, and progressive groups praising Porter’s run for the U.S. Senate.
“I’m thrilled to have CWA District 9’s support,” said Porter. “CWA is on the frontlines of standing up to corporate abuse while building and protecting worker power. Their members deserve a partner in the U.S. Senate with a proven, life-long track record of taking on greedy corporate interests that cheat workers.”
Porter has been a consistent champion for workers throughout her time in Congress. Last week, she earned the support of National United Health Care (NUHW) members, who voted to back her Senate run by a nearly two-to-one margin following her commanding performance at a recent U.S. Senate candidates forum. In August, Porter joined members of the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) on the picket line to show her support for the thousands of performers striking for higher pay and better workplace protections.
Rep. Katie Porter is running for the U.S. Senate to represent all Californians and unrig the Washington status quo. In poll after poll, Porter is the only candidate who consistently advances to a general election, finishing first or second in all surveys released to date of California voters likely to participate in the March 2024 primary. Porter also has a commanding lead over her Democratic opponents among younger voters, Latino voters, and progressives – all of whom are expected to turn out in high numbers in 2024.
