Single Payer Health Care

Since I entered politics a decade ago, I have never wavered in my support for Medicare for All. Single payer – known in California as CalCare – will deliver the highest quality AND most cost-effective care to the MOST people. Every policymaker should want that.

The problem with the current system is that corporations prioritize profit, not patient care – and then they spend millions of dollars to elect the politician in their pocket who will keep it that way. The fiscally responsible thing to do is invest in single payer, which reports estimate it will save California billions in healthcare costs every year. Now, we need a good federal partner who will work with us on this – but we should be laying the groundwork right now to get this done. And as Governor, I will deliver.
